Why am I excited?
Windaba has grown to the biggest wind conference in Africa. It draws participants from all over the globe in a high-quality discussion. It however has a South African focus and needs to discuss topics that are interesting to a broad industry audience. Increasingly, very high quality submissions are received that would fit in an academic conference – therefore the excitement about an academic sister event where these can be given exposure.
The amazing progress towards sustainable development around wind farms in South Africa through the ED/SED commitments further enables us to broaden the WindAc Africa into a multi-disciplinary conference spanning mechanical and electrical engineering but extending to developmental economics, environmental science and even political science plus others. This to my knowledge is unique internationally and puts us at the forefront of the climate/sustainability nexus that underpins the international climate regime.
